How much is to much? I eat 3-4 pounds of steak a week. Sometimes I worry this is a little over the top. What do you think?
Thanks, TopGun

Sounds like Texas appetizers to me. ;D Red Meat? There are some dangers depending on how red it is when you eat it and if the cow is mad. How much is too much? Just off the top of my head and from my arm chair in my doctorial analysis remote control room, 3-4 pounds of steak might not be enough if you are a 350 pound Suzy (spelling) wrestler and might be too much if you are 4 foot tall, 98 pound 98 year old toothless anemic butterfly collector. Over the top?! You’re right in this regard that it might be 6 feet over the top and you under. What do I think? I will seriously have to think more about this; however, for now let me ask you, do you have a sphygmomanometer? What is your blood pressure? Fatty foods cause a buildup of deposits on the insides of the artery walls, which causes thickening and hardening of the arteries. What is your age? Younger people are at less risk for arteriosclerosis/atherosclerosis than older people. If you do not have a blood pressure device, a simple test can determine how well your blood flows through the arteries of your legs. There are three areas on the lower leg where a pulsating artery can be felt by lightly touching the skin covering the artery. One spot is the top of the foot, the second spot is the inner aspect of the ankle and the third spot is behind the knee. Apply pressure lightly to the skin on these spots. If you cannot find a pulse, this is an indication that the artery supplying the leg may be narrowed. In short, if you are concerned about your health, contact your doctor. If you should have any headaches, sweating , rapid pulse, shortness of breath, dizziness and visual disturbances, dial 0 on your phone to ask for emergency assistance for you don’t want to over work yourself by looking for phone numbers for help. Give me more time to think about this I should come up with another 10 words or 10 pages of info for you to consider. ;D Liad Bar-EL Wheat grass juice is closest to the fountain of youth … but what a yuckie taste.

The cow wasn't mad....but she was severely upset! ;D
Personally I try to hold red meat consumption down to no more than 2 lb a week (more or less). That works out to about 4 hamburgers a week, one meal with ground beef in it (spaghetti, shepherd's pie, whatever), and maybe my share of one roast (what the kids don't eat!). I happen to love fish, chicken & pork but will admit to getting the occasional craving for a nice steak. And (horrors) I live smack dab in the middle of one of the largest feedlot areas of Alberta. The "mad cow" scare did not put me off...in fact I took the opportunity to fill the freezer with lower cost beef.
I just find that eating too much beef is...well, too much. It has nothing to do with playing trumpet; just a personal dietary choice. "Listen to your body, it'll tell you what it wants".

A lot of it depends upon your genetics and how you process food. Sometimes what your ancestors ate can determine what you can eat and in what quantities. An example is there have been people who ate 6-12 whole eggs a day and lived a healthy vibrant life into their 90's. And then there are people who eat moderately and still die at an early age because of hereditary factors.
So generally the old saying most things in moderation is a good bet regardless of genetics. At the same time it's important to follow your body's ability to absorb and circulate nutrients while getting rid of waste.
A lot of health problems are related to poor circulation and inactivity. So no matter what you choose to eat and in what quantity it is a good idea to enhance your body’s circulation through cardio-vascular exercise on a consistent basis as in 2-4 times per week. This will also enhance your ability to play the trumpet.

Thanks, TopGun A person needs at least 0.8-1.2gr of protein for every kg of weight. Too much is over 2grams per kg. The person should also consider the total amount of cholestrol he/she comsumes. The quantity of both protein and cholesterol depends on the kind of meat (which is usualy printed on the wraper of the product). To your health, Liad Bar-EL
