I'm planning to replace my Calicchio for a Bach trumpet because of it's a more versatile instrument. I'm playing most of the time commercial and as a jazz-soloist in a quintet. Last week I tried several new Bach's: standard 37 en 43 ml, reversed 37 ml and a ligthweight 37 ml. They were all great playing but I liked the standard 37 and 43 the most. However it's difficult too choose between those two. It seemed to me that the 43 bell has a little more spread and brighter sound. The 37 bell is more compacter. Are there any comments about the differences between those two models in a playing situation? Projection, with or without a microphone. I know this is very personal but I like to hear some opinions from players who have experiences with both models in different situations.

Groovy you mention you want a more versatile insturment. The Bach 37 is your man! I think the Bach 37 is a horn that can do everything well. You could play screaming lead trumpet on it one night and Ein Heldenlaben or Carmen on it the next. Step up to the plate with that 37. I suggest you try several of the exact smae model and get the best one. Good Luck

I also like the 37 - there is a reason why this is the most popular Bach model.

The 37 is one that made Bach famous. It's best for all around work.
