Has anybody here tried the new Schilke "Symphony" line of trumpet mouthpieces yet?
Karl Hammond has always done great work for me, and I am curious as to what other people think.
Are the rims more like Bach, with more bite, and is the overall length longer like a Schilke, or shorter like a Bach?

I have heard really great things about these pieces. I know Romey1 will be able to chime in on this. Wasn't Mr. Craig Morris using a Schilke at some point while playing with the CSO? Can anyone confirm that.
Where can one order one of these new Schilke Pieces?

I received a Schilke m/p catalogue with a special insert on these pieces when Phil sent me the new valve felts back in June. It includes complete price list for gold and silver for all the "bits and pieces" as well as custom services on mouthpieces. Looks like you order straight from the factory or by contacting Karl@shilkemusic.com .

Give Karl a call at Schilke. I just got done talking to him, and got the specs. Dillon Music either has them in stock, or they will order them from Schilke. These symphony mouthpieces are still considered by Schilke to be "custom", so they are $100, and no trial period is offered.
However, I talked to the guys at Dillon, and they said these mouthpieces are getting rave reviews by the guys in the New York Phil and the Met. From what Karl has done for me in the past, I am going to trust that they are good pieces.
They are offered in 3 sizes:
M-1 is like a Bach 1C, M-2 is like a Bach 1 1/2C M-3 is like a Bach 3C
The rim contours on all three sizes are the same; kind of like the old "1CH" style rim. These come with a 24 throat and Schilke's "Half-Schmitt" backbore, for C trumpet. You can also get a "Bb trumpet" backbore, which is like the standard Bach 10. You can also get each of these in a deeper cup depth, like the Schilke 17D4d.. (Can you say bathtub?) :-)
The overall length of these mouthpieces is between a Bach and a Schilke.
Finally, these are also available in parts; you can get a threaded rim and/or a threaded underpart.
Hope this helps....

Thanks Mikey. That does help! SO only 3 sizes at this time. Interesting. Id like to see a 1 1/4 rim.
