"When a trumpet is so well thought of as is the Committee, why doesn't someone determine the make up of the brass, the exact dimensions, the exact configuration and just make an accurate reproduction of the identical quality? kpb"
i know that Lawler is doing this but i would like the see Leigh's take on the Martin too. IMO there can never be to many Martin based horns out there.

Hello James..
I have never said never, so its not something i would not consider!
Of course it would mean having a traditional tuning slide, but that is not a problem to me as there are many fantastic horns out there with just that!
Maybe in the future i will have a look at this and see what i can do, at the moment the Eclipses are selling so well that i would not disturb their growth to look into other horns but ill certainly look into it in the future.
The next Eclipse will be the flugel horn which i hope to launch at the ITG in Denver ( if it is ready of course)
We will follow with a C trumpet and a cornet with a shepherds crook.
But it all takes time to get each model right and i'm sure that you know as one of the buying public that if a manufacturer launches an instrument in his range that is not ready and is a donkey, then the rest of his range that is indeed very good also suffers from association.
So we are taking it easy and will launch each new instrument when we feel that we could not possibly develop it to perform any better.
Regards
Leigh

BTW - my design for an Eclipse committee would use the bell tuning. I'd take the bore size and the bell and leadpipe tapers from the Martin. I'd use lightweight bracing and heavy valve caps.

Martin committee is/was an outstanding horn. Why copy it? If I ever wanted what a martin committee gave, I would go there to get it, not to someone making a copy. I would rather see a model (present or future) made by eclipse become as renouned as the committee for the unique things that it would bring to the music world, not for how well it copies another horn. My 2 cents.

i think there can never be too many committees around. I've heard the original had intonation problems, an updated design based on the committee would fix that.
