Are the bottom braces also in your initials?
Bet you treat those babies with kid gloves! Very, very nice.

Hi Alan
In fact a copper Eclipse is due back from Germany very soon, it has been a brief tour of some top German players along with another 4 Eclipses to be reviewed by Sonic Music Magazine.
Once its back i may well send it up to Malcolm and the guys at Stringers so the boys north of the border can have a blast on it!
I should also get a medium heavy red up there when i can also as its a great edition to our range and has managed to turn a few heads down here!
Great to hear from you and ill keep you posted of when new horns will arrive in Scotland
All the best
Leigh

Leigh
That copper horn looks so different from when I played it a few weeks back. I liked it then and it looks great now. I know, all I need to do is put the order in. Hopefully that will come soon, I am looking forward to becoming a full member of the Eclipse family!!
See ya soon.

I was just taking another (drooling) look at the copper one myself when a thought occurred (they do happen from time to time). I am curious as to how you managed to connect the copper leadpipe to the brass leadpipe bow while managing to maintain the continuous internal taper that your essential design feature (bell tuning bow) permits. It must be devilishly tricky to get that "just right". If you aren't "bound by corporate secrets" (or "National Secrets Act"), just how DO you do that?

The Copper horn looks oustanding!!!
How does it play/sound? I have played the 4 Eclipses Bruce brought to Mobile (medium, classic, red, & equinox). Any comparisons to these would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Mikester, I'm told that the Copper Bell/Copper Leadpipe model plays and sounds like a "cloud".... Let me clarify that it is most likely Noel doing the playing, not Leigh! Leigh is still waiting for his first lesson. I'm afraid that if he were to ask Noel, Noel would take up smoking again. Thanks for remaining sensitive to that, Leigh! ;D Perhaps Noel will stop by, and give us his impression, soon! Best, Bruce

I've played the Copper a bit, and I can definetly see the "cloud" comparison. It's quite fluid in the mid range and kind of glides over everything with a light fluffy tone, ALMOST like a flugel but not quite. In the upper register it turns into a really nice core and can brighten up a lot with air. I think it would make a GREAT sounding lead horn for someone who could use it. Also, it would do some killer solo work. Definetly my kinda horn. I'd put it closest to the large red. -J

The copper can sound like a cloud alright, but I think leaving the description there would be inaccurate. The sound is very 'soft' in tambre (not volume), but it also has a degree of mass behind it. The response to the player is rather quick, and the heavier bell doesn't allow the sound to get lost in the 'cloud'. If you take a LR eclipse in laquer, darken the sound a little with a bit more 'presence' while retaining the silky soft properties....man, you just gotta play the thing. Words aren't doing a very good job of explaining the sound
