Dear TG
I am curious to know what shops use to do Chem Cleanings. What chemicals are used. I have heard chem cleans reffered to Acid Baths. DO people really use acid? What can you tell us.

Chem. cleaning does use acid. There are a couple differant types used for differant parts of your instrument. I am sure others will be able to give more info.

Dear friends: Shops regulary use a chemical named Exoclean and another one called Slime Away. Bassically are the same. It remove the residues of the metal. This chemicals are very hard to get beause are only sold to shops by Allied Supplies and are expensive. Personally I have used with excellent results the Simple Green Lime and Scale Remover. It comes in a 32 oz triger bottleand gallon . Using it with a brush removes all the scum inside the lead pipes etc The price of the 32 ox bottle here in Puerto Rico Is 7-8 Dollar. Its secure for silver instruments. For lackered Or gold isntrumensta its recomended to use inside the instruments only no to deep in a tank or pail. For pollish the silver finishes the best polish compound I have test is the Twinkle silver pollish. Its secure and fast. At same time you are cleaning you are pollishing. the results are mirror like. Its also economic a jar of this product only cost 8 dollar and last for clean 8 times. Any question i will be happy to answer. Thanks

Ya I have tried that once or twice. It seems to work a little bit. Not sure of the ratio. I want to say half viniger to half water??? Maybe changing the ration would make it stronger.
