My understanding of the Kanstul Eb/D is it produces a bigger ( more orchestral ) sound then the Schilke. I believe they also offer an optional Eb bell for chamber/quintet use that probably matches pretty close to the smaller sound of the Schilke.
Never played the Kanstul rotary, but I've got a Monke Herseth C and can't conceive of changing to anything else.

Our Rotary trumpets are considered by many to be comparable to any on the market. They have been well-received by the European community for their tonal quality intonation and response.
Our Eb/D trumpets (two models, the CCT 923 and the ZKT 1523) are very popular. I can tell you that many of the inquiries/sales we get are from Schilke players!

Kanstulbrass, Absolutely no disrespect intended about the rotary. I own a ZKF1525 flugal and love it. Plus I'm friends with B.A. here in Mich. and have been able to play a number of your other horns at his house. I happen to think that Kanstul's don't get the props they deserve and hopefully this forum will help. I just happen (luckely) to already own the Monke and have no reason to buy another rotary.

No offense taken. I happen to own and play a 1968 Schilke B3 trumpet that I acquired just before I came aboard here at Kanstul, and as my wife says: "Don't you already have a trumpet? Why do you need another?"

I just love that Eb/D trumpet Kanstul produces. The Custom Class right? It's very popular in the Netherlands. I don't own one, but when I need one for auditioning with haydn, I also borrow one from my colleagues. One day i will own one too, I hope. As far as rotary trumpets: I would get German ones (Monke, Scherzer, etc.). Schagerl is my favourite by far! By the way Schagerl is Austrian, but you know what I mean

Many knows about German and Austrian Rotaries, but I think that is terrific that you are doing this instruments in USA.
So, I would like to hear from Kanstul several issues regarding their Rotaries.
For Example:
Which kind of instrument did you take as a model? a Heckel type ( big wrap bell ) or a German type ( like the Monkes ).?
Do you do your own valve block ( I mean the rotaries ) ?.
Suggestions: You have to add as an option the vent keys.
Thanks and regards.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The horn of choice to look at for the Kanstul Rotary was a Monke. With the knowledge my father has acquired over the years on a tapered tube he was able to make some outstanding improvements. It is extremely easy to blow as are all Kanstul's. This is because the tube resonates in your hand like no other. The factory manufactures its own rotories. If you haven't had a chance to try one I keep them in stock for immediate shipping and give you a "free trial period" to ensure your satisfaction. For our overseas friends I am adept at handling all the paperwork for a successful transaction. Feel free to email me privately at: jack@kanstulmusic.com
