Any one ever play the 1500a with standard valve caps? I'm curious if this would help the axe cut through in section work.
Anyone? Jack?

The 1500A was designed to play with a dark full sound. It literally fills up a room! That's why it is a favorite of Symphony players. Although many jazz players like its dark sound and quick slotting action. Claudio Roditti has recorded on this horn for that very reason. I use it for Broadway shows as it really fills up the section with those smaller orchestra pit ensembles. In any case it was not designed as a lead horn. If you take the caps off it will help some but it's hard to change the direction of any given horn.
To the music
