1984 Volkswagen, 4 door, it has 173,000 KM, has three shades of the same color (beige) which is due to insurance repairs after getting lightly hit by some crazy drivers. Has new grill, lights and front bumper (from another crazy driver) which equals about one third or half of the value of the car. Sun shades have dried up and broken off due to too much sun. The engine and body is still very tight and does not leak water inside nor outside; however, it is recommended that you take a leak before you travel anywhere in case you might get stuck.
The horn still works but during my last demonstration in which we had a long line of cars driving all around town while beeping horns in protest against the Prime Minister, it seemed to have changed its voice some how. It sounds a little tired. It must be my perfect pitch and music training that notices the difference. If you play banjo, this horn should sound alright however.
It is hard to start in the morning especially if it is cold. I think that the carburetor just needs a little cleaning. Taking a leak in the carburetor will not clean it for your information.
It has new windshield wiper blades. The sun out hear eats rubber and plastic in no time. The tires are in excellent shape (still round) and still have several months before they get sun scorched, cracked and start peeling away. Camels are the only means of transportation that can really hold up to dessert (spelling) whether IMO.
In terms of experience that adds to the value of this car, it has survived all the Middle East wars since 1984 and still has the original owner. It has been to many holy places and many places that almost got hit with either a big stone thrown from a high cliff or a bullet shot from behind a tree. Someone tried to steal it once but the steering wheel lock saved the day in this regard. Oh, I should mention that it has a new window as a result of this attempted theft.
Note: Each year that goes by, most cars get older but this car gets newer with all the hits, attempted and “successful” thefts, etc. The outside mirror was stolen once and I only had one; however, now I replaced it with new mirrors on both sides.
Price: Willing to trade it for a Monette trumpet or best offer that will exceed my minimum.
