The M's were a pretty good farm team for the Yanks for awhile.......... can you say Tino Martinez and a younger Jeff Nelson.

Romey1, Brewblue, and anyone else who wants to support the Yanks- Let me put it to you like this. Blah blahblah, the yankees spend their money well. Blahblahblah, the Yankees produce through their farm systerm. BlaHBLAHBLAHBLAH. THe bottom line is: The Yankees currently have the highest payroll in MLB by far....it is no comparison. Of course they perform on the field, they've bought the best players to do that. Money goes a long way in any thing we do, and it is no exception in MLB. YEah, a few players for the Yanks were brought up through their farm system, but they are still paid well to stay with the organization. THe Yankees win because they pay players to come, to stay, and to perform well. Bottom line is, the Yankees win because they BUY THEIR WINS.

BAM,
You're Wrong! You're putting yourself in the same category as Cubs fans by making excuses and looking for scapegoats.
Go back to Seattle!

Seattle's payroll $81 million A-Rod's contract $125 million Yankees payroll priceless.......... literally Imagine if Seattle would have spent $50 million more this year. Let's see $15 million for one more 1 year ace pitcher, $8 million for a 3rd baseman that could hit and a lot left over to buy the Japanese guy the Yanks picked up.......... good ol' Godzilla. M's would have been in pretty good shape with that kind of cash to throw around Romey. Money and a smart owner/GM can buy championships but the flip side of that, look at Texas, stupidity can't.

Yes, the $$$$$$$$ helps a lot, but you also need ....... 1. A good manager - like Torre who knows when to take pitchers out (unlike Grady Little and Dusty Baker). 2. A good GM like Brian Cashman who can "take the heat," and won't trade good pitchers to teams they could compete against in the postseason. 3. Fans who aren't afraid to boo their own players when they are disapointed with them. Welcome to the Bronx Zoo! romey P.S. Great interview with Pat Gillick on the Benitez Jeff Nelson trade. (real audio) ...... wfan.com/chrismikeaudio/?b_start=80P.S.S. I just heard during this past season Safeco Field outlawed shirts that said "Sucks." M's Fan's can't wear their "Yankees Sucks" shirts anymore.

Yep, must have been a "Brand X super mod" running around Safeco. Remember, Seattle is the "heart" of PC thought control........ saying "suck" is a no-no, someone might get their feelings hurt.

Thanks for the clip romey, its what I've been saying all along about the Seattle management. Seattle owners hate dissent and got rid of nelson to make a point to the rest of the team.
Unfortunately you've seen the result of the short sightedness of this decision.

Looks like the shoe's on the other foot now... "At Least I'm not a BlueJay." "At least our paychecks come in US dollars." "It could be worse, we could be in Montreal." "I'm still the man..." "Don't trade me to Toronto." "Blame Canada!"

Ouch, NE....Ouch........ (let me guess you're Jays fan?) That's OK I can take it. Let's give some credit to the Marlins - That kid Beckett was "lights-out." The Yanks were pretty lifeless most of the World Series. Maybe the ALCS took it all out of them. They'll be back! romey
